On June 29, 2022, BIC invited rehired expert to carry out the guide training of Rubber Dam. The training content includes ten parts: rubber dam design principles, dam type selection, the difference between China's rubber dam design and Japan, dam bag adhesive tape specification, dam bag technical parameter selection, dam bag design calculation, dam bag standard and ex-factory inspection, anchorage system design, control, safety and observation system design, and dam bag and equipment maintenance, The content of the lecture catalogue is based on the “Technical code for rubber dam engineering GB/T 50979 — 2014” and the water conservancy industry standard “Rubber dam bag” issued by the Ministry of water resources, combined with the questions raised in advance, so as to further carry forward the traditional engineering projects of BIC.

 

Simplified elevated dam can solve the problem of dam construction without power source, while rubber dam can solve the problem of low-cost dam construction. Rubber dam can still be selected when giving priority to the following points:

① Low cost first

② Uneven settlement of foundation

③ Seawater sewage is seriously corroded

 

In addition, the rubber dam can be used in four best applications. 

● The first is used as a gate or movable overflow weir on the reservoir spillway to increase the storage capacity and power generation head. 

● The second kind can be used as the dam of plain river. The plain water flow is relatively stable, and the river section is wide. It is suitable to build a rubber dam hub, which can give full play to the advantages of rubber dam with large span and low water flow resistance. 

● The third is that rubber dams can be built in mountain rivers. When energy dissipation and anti scour facilities are arranged, the dam bottom plate and the stilling basin can be set into a slope connection of 1:2~1:4, so as to avoid the sand and stones passing through the dam being drawn into the bottom of the dam bag and wearing the dam bag. 

● The fourth kind is used as a tidal barrier on the beach. Because the rubber dam bag is resistant to seawater corrosion, using the rubber dam as a facility to prevent the sea tide from attacking the inland river is one of the choices of coastal cities and towns: filling the dam in the tide period to prevent the backflow of seawater, and collapsing the dam in the flood season to divert flood water into the sea, which can alleviate the problem of daily drinking brackish water of residents along the coast.
