On the afternoon of March 31, 2023, Azazi Zakaria, Director of the Rivers Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Center(REDAC) of Universiti Sains Malaysia, and his delegation visited IWHR to discussion on further expanding cooperation and implement the research results. Party Secretary Peng Jing met with the visiting guests, and the heads of International Cooperation Division, Disaster Reduction Center, Irrigation and Drainage department, Sediment Research department and other departments attended the meeting.

Peng Jing extended expressed her warm welcome to Director Azazi Zakaria and his delegation, and thanked the REDAC Center under the leadership of Professor Azazi Zakaria for its continuous support and friendly cooperation with IWHR. She reviewed that in 2019, President Kuang Shangfu led a delegation to visit the niversiti Sains Malaysia, where the REDAC Center is located, and related research units and institutions in Malaysia. Peng Jing said that the cooperation between our institute and REDAC Center has a good foundation and superior resources. She looks forward to the future to learn from each other in areas of common interest such as urban flood control and disaster reduction, river ecological restoration and comprehensive management of water resources, give full play to their respective strengths, and promote the water conservancy science and technology cooperation between China and Malaysia to a higher level. Peng Jing said that the cooperation between IWHR and REDAC has a good foundation and superior resources. We look forward to the future mutual learning and appreciation in areas of common interest such as urban flood mitigation, river ecological restoration, integrated water resources management, etc., and to promote the cooperation between China and Malaysia in water resources science and technology to a higher level by utilizing the strengths of each discipline.
Professor Azaz Zakaria thanked IWHR for the warm reception given to the REDAC delegation. He reviewed that IWHR and International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research(IAHR) had been instrumental in organizing the 37th International Conference on Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (ICWRE) at REDAC, and said that although the two organizations are different in size, they share similar research areas and have a friendly relationship and a solid basis for cooperation.
During the visit to China, under the arrangement of IWHR, they investigated and visited a number of water conservancy units, and saw the historic achievements of China's water conservancy development. It is hoped that the two companies, based on the MOU cooperation agreement, will continue to strengthen cooperation relations, broaden cooperation methods, consolidate and deepen the achievements of cooperation, and promote the high-quality development of water conservancy science and technology cooperation in a more active manner in the post-epidemic era.
